Safeguarding
Scout Road Academy is committed to providing a safe and secure environment in which children can learn, develop, and grow. Safeguarding is central to achieving this aim. All staff and trustees at Scout Road Academy are aware of their responsibilities to safeguard and protect the welfare of every child in the school’s care. Here is some information about the systems we have in place.
Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) are:
Gina Blagbrough (Principal)
Katie Loney (Assistant Principal)
Sue Yorke (Senior Administrator)
If you ever have any safeguarding concerns about a child, please contact one of the Designated Safeguarding Leads either by visiting the school office or telephoning 01422 883327.

PREVENT
Prevent is part of the UK's counter terrorism strategy, aimed at preventing people from becoming involved in terrorism or supporting terrorism. Prevent is a legal duty for schools under the Counter Terrorism and Security Act 2015. This means that we need to recognise our duty to keep children safe from radicalisation, extremism, and terrorism. At Scout Road Academy we do this by promoting British Values (democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs, and those without faith) through our assemblies, our curriculum, and additional events.
If you are concerned that a child may be at risk of radicalisation, please contact a Designated Safeguarding Lead immediately.
INTERNET SAFETY
At Scout Road Academy we teach our children to use the internet and technology in a safe, considered, and respectful way. All staff regularly undergo safeguarding training which includes online safety, and online safety is a key part of the curriculum and embedded within a wider school approach. Here is a copy of our Online Safety Policy and other useful information.

Operation Encompass is a partnership between the police and schools. One of its key principles is that all incidents of domestic abuse are shared with schools so all children affected, can receive appropriate and timely support. Scout Road Academy is a member of Operation Encompass.
If you are affected by domestic abuse and would like to talk to a member of staff or, you have any concerns about a child exposed to domestic abuse, please contact a Designated Safeguarding Lead.
